Request for New Features

It's a good idea, but I believe it requires lots of work, and maybe sometimes players would abuse this feature, by kicking anyone they don't like. Even for retarded reasons like painting too much or just play better than them and decrease there points on the weighted rank..

I'd like to see a feature where a power up could be picked up that would add 1-pixel wide blades on either side of the light cycle, which would tear down walls for a duration of 5 seconds.

that would cause quite a bit of havoc, shadowbeam.
I like it :D

and @LightBeam's comment, i think it would be good if everyone in the room voted when to kick them, and they'd only be ejected from the room after the match had finished, so nobody lost any points they shouldn't have.

also, i'd like there to be something done about the fact that i often join a match when someone's already on 3 wins, and i can't get 4 wins before they get a single one more, and i end up losing points. i dont like that. a way around it would maybe be on the main window where you select a game, it shows what scores the players are all on. so you can join at the right time.

just a thought...

also if you are on team play and there are 4 of you playing 2 blue and 2 orange then the 2 blue leave you are just playing and obviously you are never gonna win, so perhaps you could change (if possible) to if 2 of the same color leaves then one person gets changed to the other team or something?

Another idea: the light cycles detonate on impact causing an explosion 2 pixels in diameter, taking out walls and other lightbikes.

Constantly having to patch up holes in walls would require new strategy.

these are very good ideas shadowbeam, but all taking away from the simplicity of the actual game. although if there was a mode (like there currently is a 2v2 option) you could choose where all those sorts of things happened, it would be good.

while, we're at it, i might as well add: mefuzzy, please add a way so we know what sort of game it is we're about to join, as a lot of people dont label their games if they're 2v2. make the 'join game' box a different colour or something, just anything to show that it's a 2v2 game.

Yes, MEfuzzy, please do so. I don't like team games yet because I get no points even if I own the grid.

Okay lets see what I can cover here...

It sure would be fun to kick certain people out of games, but It is unlikely they'll be any kicking out or prohibiting going on. I don't even think you see kicking out on high-end multi-player games.

But that is what the private rooms are supposed to help with. At some point fltron.com is going to have a more of a nonoba shell, with the private room option, chat, forums etc...

Sorry, no plans to add death blades to the sides of cars. Explosions that take out pixels is an interesting idea, I'll keep it in mind.

It would be nice if the gametype showed up in the title somehow, but Nonoba hasn't given me that capability. As you know the players can, but that's not always dependable. I think that's a big enough one (and perhaps not too difficult) that I'll ask Nonoba about it.

Also with Team Play, I was planning on making it more user friendly, where you can switch teams and colors and such on the gameboard between matches. I just wanted to get something up that was playable at the time.

If you enter a game in progress, you can still exit without penalty as long as the pre-exisitng players are still driving around. (You might've still heard the voice - sorry about that, I know its not obvious).

One more idea:

How about allowing usage of just 1 turbo, 2 combined, or all three at once?

1 turbo would just be normal, 2 would be a faster burn for 1.75 times the normal turbo distance, 3 would be even faster for 2.5 times the normal distance.

This would be like those motorcycles where you can just flood the engine with gas and shoot forward like a bullet. Would change up strategy a bit too.

@shadowbeam

they are all very good suggestions, but how about we let him deal with sorting out the lag, making the team games labelled, and allowing players to swap sides in team games. i think that's enough on his hands for a while.

I'm just happy he considered the explosion option.

How about a "lag counter" besides each player's name? It seems that much of the time those who are sucking on sour grapes because they lost immediately start screaming "lagger! lagger!" A counter would settle this issue for one and all. Perhaps the designer of FL Tron could even adjust the point system by whether someone has a high fidelity connection or an ultra laggy one. In a word: You lag, you don't earn as much. What say you?

Not a bad idea, but not totally fair. The laggers can't help the fact that they lag.

Well, maybe just a counter in each corner would be good. Then we could put the lag with a face, so to speak.

Yah, I was thinking of putting some type of "lag gage". But currently with the help of Nonoba, I'm working out a new method to sync players and do collision detection. So hopefully lag would become less of and issue.
